The main functions and characteristics

Delivering High Energy Performance for Superior images

High-energy linear accelerators (also known as Linacs), Linatron™, can be found in most cargo screening systems throughout the world. They reliably generate the necessary energy to fully penetrate completely loaded containers and carefully sense different materials.

As Linatron continues to innovate and advance imaging technologies, our portfolio of linear accelerators includes interlaced dual-energy technology that offers even greater material discrimination than ever before. We also have an option to alternate X-ray energies on a pulse-to-pulse basis.

The Linatron M product family represents the most popular X-ray linear accelerators available for the security and NDT markets. These accelerators are available in several versions that vary by output energy and shielding, as well as other customer-specific features.

Linatron M1

Typically used for both security and NDT applications, the Linatron M1 provides a nominal output of 1 MeV, but can be configured for outputs ranging from approximately 0.9 to 1.5 MeV. It has a relatively small size, light weight, and available shielding packages.

Linatron M3

Typically used for both security and NDT applications, the Linatron M3 provides a nominal output of 3 MeV, but can be configured for outputs ranging from approximately 1 to 4.5 MeV. Its relatively small size, light weight, and available shielding packages make it ideal for truck-mounted applications.

Linatron M6

The Linatron M6 offers a nominal 6 MeV output, allowing more penetration than the M3 and making it suitable for inspecting larger objects. It is used for both security and NDT applications. The output is nominally 6 MeV, but the dual energy versions (M6A) are available with a second, switchable lower energy output.

Linatron M9

The Linatron M9 is primarily used for fixed site security and NDT applications where size, weight, and shielding are less restrictive than in vehicles. The output is nominally 9 MeV, but the dual energy versions (M9A) are available with a second, switchable lower energy output.
