The main functions and characteristics

SDU-7320/7330

This 2 MCU Satellite Data Unit provides 1 or 2 channels of SwiftBroadband at data speeds up to 432 kbps. Channel scalability is one way Chelton helps your customer manage equipment and service costs while providing a full-featured SwiftBroadband solution. The SDU-7320 delivers the following features and benefits:

  • Offers users the option of either "pay by the megabit (IP Background) or "pay by the  minute" (IP  Streaming) classes of service
  • Integrated Beam Steering function eliminates the need for an external Beam Steering Unit  reducing system weight and installation time and enabling direct ARINC 429 IRS or
  • GPS-enhanced AHRS connections to the SDU-7320
  • Integrated GPS engine enhances the aircraft's AHRS or Chelton's popular standalone antenna steering option (SRU-7200 Satellite Reference Unit and MSU-7250 Magnetic Sensor Unit), which is ideal for aircraft that do not have an ARINC 429 data bus
  • Integrated 4-port router/DHCP server allows direct Ethernet connects to the Satellite Data
  • Unit, eliminating the need for an external router
  • Configuration Module with integral USIM card comes with pre-assigned Forward ID's and   eliminates additional rack wiring; also stores aircraft calibration and user information allowing the  module to "stay with the aircraft," reducing maintenance turnaround time
  • Environmentally qualified for installation both inside and outside the aircraft pressure vessel
  • SDN (Circuit Switched) - One basic rate interface (1B+D) per SDU channel
  • Operates with ARINC 741 / 781 Chelton High Gain and Intermediate Antennas
  • HTML-based MMI user interface
  • Front panel LEDs provide system status
  • Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) for setting up Packet Data Protocol (PDP) contexts with selected Quality of Service (QoS)
  • Background and Interactive class IP service
  • Streaming class, or constant bit rate IP services at rates of 32, 64 and 128 kbps
  • Supports Inmarsat PABX functionality (call transfer, call waiting, voice mail service, etc.)
  • 2-wire telephone Plain Old Telephone System (POTS)
  • Power over Ethernet, allowing for support ofexisting IP phone(s)
  • Additional ARINC 429 ports
  • MIL-1553 navigation interface
  • 4-wire cockpit voice interface

HPA-7400

The  HPA-7400 is environmentally qualified for installation both inside and outside the aircraft pressure vessel. The robust design meets Inmarsat Passive Inter-Modulation (PIM) rejection requirements and can operate with a lower cost standard Modified Type A DLNA. The HPA-7400 delivers the following features and benefits:

  • Linear amplifier that provides sufficient output power to cover marginal satellite link conditions such as aircraft altitude changes or operations at the edge of coverage
  • Meets Inmarst SDM requirements for total Passive Inter-Modulation (PIM) rejection
  • Standalone installation that does not require co-location with the SDU-7320
  • Enables maximum installation flexibility, a key feature for Business Jet, VIP/Specialty Jet and Military/Air Transport Jet airframes
The HPA-7400 is a linear, standalone, High Power Amplifier that supports single and multichannel Chelton SwiftBroadband systems. It does not need to be co-located with the Satellite Data Unit, allowing for maximum installation flexibility. The compact, 2MCU size and light weight open up SwiftBroadband opportunities\ across a much broader range of airframes.
